Hi, yesterday I got a new motherboard and CPU. I moved from and AMD Athlon II X4 630 to and AMD Athlon X4 760K. Before I was getting temperatures of around 30-35 degrees but with the new CPU I'm getting over 100 even when I'm not running anything! I did use a CPU cooler that I already had for the older CPU but it fit so I didn't know if that would be a problem? Also, all other temps are normal and around 35-40. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Check your heatsink to make sure it's mounted properly, sometimes it can be a little off and you won't notice. Also clean the heatsink and CPU with alcohol and put a dab of new thermal compound. Either one of these can cause your problem.

I also just got the 760k, and the normal temps are really high(mine idles at 45-65 and goes up to 95 while gaming), so today i ordered a 212 evo(arrives tomorrow).

However, in your case, yours is 100C, wich is bad, really bad.

IF you DO want to use the stock cooler(wich i do not recommend), stock amd coolers come with thermal paste already on the heatsinc so if you havent touched the thermal paste of the 760k's cooler, use that one, but be sure to clean your cpu's thermal paste first(alcohol or nailpolish remover), that should work.

But still, if i were you i'd get an aftermarket cooler because 760k's are burning ;_;
