XFX R9 280x 6pin+8pin problem.

Ive recently bought an XFX R9 280x and tried it on my 500w PSU but it didnt have enough pin connectors, so i went and searched for a solution on the internet for a recommended PSU. Some people recommended a 600w but the official website recommends a 750w+.

Heres the problem, the card requires a 6pin connector and an 8pin connector. Which PSU would be recommended for this card?

  1. What is your budget for a new PSU? I would go for this> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1650snlb9
  2. My current budget is €70.. roughly $105.
This one is 650w, are you sure it would run smoothly? :D
  3. It should what are the rest of your system specs?
  4. If you can bump the budget 5$ you can get this and never have to worry about your PSU again> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss850am

  6. Specs...
    Processor: AMD FX(tm)-6350 Six-Core Processor
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7750
    RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengence
    Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3

That SeaSonic SS-850AM is out of my budget as it costs over €120 and the XfX 650W costs 100euro.

Yea, it will work, but the CX series are notorious for less than high quality caps. Go for this if you can swing it. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750xxxb9
