Win 8.1 only loading half of my ram

I have 16 gig ram in my custom built PC but when I check in System it says that I only have 8 gig ram installed.

My specs
Motherboard:Gigabyte G1 Sniper A88X
CPU:AMD A10-6800K APU
GPU:AMD R9 270X
RAM:Kingston HyperX beast 16gig(2x8)
Kingston 128gig SSD
2 Seagate barracuda 1TB's
OS:Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit

hmm since its detected in the bios don't waste your time plugging it in and out.
it the problem of the operating system.try a reinstall

as expected if it were 32 you could only use 4GiB:D

check
RAM is detected in the bios-
if yes-something is wrong with your os
if no-try taking it out of the mobo clean it and plug it again

The bios displays that both of the 8 gig Sticks are loaded and functioning.
I tried removing the ram and putting it in another slot, the bios still agreed that there is 16 gig.
But windows still displays that only 8 gigis loaded.

I'll Try a reinstall of Standard Windows 8 Pro and check if it works.
If It does I'll download the 8.1 update and see if the problem persists :)

It may be feature of motherboard. I can't remember what was name of it, but I know there is feature which use one of memory sticks as extra memory to speed up 1st stick, like some kind of cache. Some mobo have it, I once encountered it on one mobo we had. So basicly if it's this case your memory is in use, it's faster but you can use only half of it.
I ll try to look up name of it and if your mobo use it. Also if it's this case maybe you can turn it off somewhere in bios.

I have been using the green slots for about 2 months as this PC isn't very old.
After a reinstall of Windows 8 Pro the problem was fixed , then I downloaded the 8.1 update and it says only 8 gig installed once again.

yes its the pro version , but I found that All my ram works with normal win 8 Pro but as soon as I aply the 8.1 update it fails.
