CLC systems typically do not leak, but yes, if a water-cooling loop takes a leak in your system while it is running, damage is highly likely. I remind myself of this whenever I begin to think of how "cool" a complex custom water-cooling loop can be; I'll take "safe" over "cool" any day, especially since my overclocks tend to be mild.
