Hello all! I have started upgrading my old desktop pc that I bought in 2007 and I am wondering if I should start planning on buying a new PSU..Take note that I haven't bought all the parts yet.I just today recieved my new motherboard and RAM,will buy my cpu during this week and gpu maybe later this month.

My old pc is consisted of:
Mobo:Gigabyte p35-dq6
CPU:intel core 2 duo e6750 2.66ghz
RAM: 4gb ddr2
GPU: nVidia GF 8600 GT
PSU: Thermaltake TR2-470

My new system will be this:
Mobo: Gigabyte GA 970A-DS3P
CPU: AMD FX 6300

RAM: 4GB ddr3 1866mhz (planning to make it 8gb soon)
GPU: I am still thinking about this.I was first thinking going for r7 260x but I will probably go for either radeon r7 265 or the r9 270x...
PSU: ?

If my old PSU is not enough to supply this new system could you suggest one?

Thanks in advance!

Since you are not overclocking I think this PSU will hold your system but since you are going with an AMD based build I will suggest to buy a 550W PSU just to make it more future-proof.

I have picked the fx6300 because it has good potential for OC but I don't want to do that right away if that would be the only reason for me to pick a new PSU..I mean,I am planning to buy the gpu after the cpu and maybe another ram module and an external cooler for the cpu so I don't want to be spending money on a new PSU yet since I am on a budget..I was mainly concerned about the wattage need from my new gpu..

If I am also to be looking to buy a new PSU should I be looking at only W supply?Because I see a great difference in prices among many manufacturers.

No you shouldn't be looking only for the Wattages... Every manufacturer has series of PSUs with the same Wattages but different build qualities, power consumption options and overclocking stability. The GPUs you've picked use about 150 Watts Max when gaming and the CPU about 240 so there is a 390W just for those 2.. rest of the system isn't much but I have to say it is risky... If you plan to buy a PSU though I would recommend the VS series from corsair but there are a lot of good PSUs under that Watt range. Of course if you are not in a tight budget then seasonic is the best solution in PSUs.
