I purchased an old S5015M-MF SuperServer on ebay. Although it's an old model, it was new in the original (unopened) box so it was untested. I unboxed it and set it up and I can't get any video - at all. No POST, nothing. Monitor says no video is detected. I checked the jumper for the onboard VGA. It is enabled. I've downloaded and looked through the manual but don't see anything helpful. The only other thing I can think of to do is buy a PCI VGA card and try that, but I really hate to do this since this will be a headless server and I only need it to get the OS installed.

I'd REALLY appreciate any help/advice on this.

Do you have a PSU to swap in?

Thanks for the response! I have an ATX PSU - obviously no good for a 1U server chassis, but I could temporarily connect it on the bench just for testing. Seems like an odd diagnosis, though... how would a PSU cause this?

Tried 3 different PSUs. Same result. Also tried different RAM. Same result. Went and bought a PCI VGA card and installed it in the expansion slot. No video from that, either.

I suggest you return the server to the seller then, looks like the motherboard is bad,
the 5015M-MF is really old, it worth no more than $80.

why buy used when you can easily build a new server 5-10x faster with about $550
or even $400 if you happen to have some extra ram and hdd at home.

X9SCL-F server board $135
xeon E3-1220 v2 3.1~3.5Ghz Quad-core $188
CSE-512L-260B Black 1U Rackmount 260w $84
8GB ECC reg ram $70
Samsung EVO 840 120GB SSD $83
