Is this a good system?

I'm currently looking into building a new system (my first custom one) soon, potentially over summer hopefully, and was just wondering if someone who actually knows what they're talking about could give the system I have in mind a quick once over since as I've said this will be my first custom build so I dont really know the first thing about the combination of components.

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 330R
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-OC FORCE (This is probably overkill, so any reccomendations to save a bit of money?)
CPU: i7 4770
GPU: EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 780
Memory: Kingston Beast Series 16GB 2400MHz DDR3
PSU: Corsair 650W 80 Plus Gold
SSD/HDD: Samsung 840 Series Pro 128GB and WD 1TB
Optical Drive: Nothing special here, just something for convenience if I ever want to watch a DVD or if I buy a retail game for some reason.
OS: Windows 8 (I think I'm in the minority who doesnt actually mind it :) )

Something worth noting, I wont be overclocking anything like that so I dont need a 'K' CPU or any overly fancy cooling system such as liquid cooling, and probably even aftermarket CPU coolers will be overkill for me. I will probably be adding a couple of extra fans however.

I also wont be doing anything crazy on this, just casual gaming (the most demanding game I play now is Skyrim, which my 560Ti can handle at around 50fps on average even when fairly heavily modded) and college work.

Thanks :)

Thanks for the motherboard recommendations, the mobo was the area I was unsure about the most.

As far as your recommendations about the CPU and the GPU go RazerZ, I will be sticking with an i7 simply because its only an extra £50 or so, so it makes sense to me to go with the i7 over an i5. I will also be sticking with a 780 as well because its an excellent card, and I dont want to wait for the 800 series or anything and the Titan is just overkill, but also because it is more than £100 cheaper than the 780Ti and for my needs (1 monitor at 1920x1080 currently. Even if I did upgrade my displays, I would likely stick to gaming on one monitor anyway) so the added extra performance is negligible.

Thanks everyone :)

I've just put together what I *think* is not a slightly better system. Opinions?

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 330R
Motherboard: Asus H87-PLUS (LGA1150)
CPU: i7 4771 (Since I wont be doing anything too heavy, casual gaming at most, I decided not to go for an aftermarket CPU cooler)
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB DirectCU II
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
PSU: Corsair RM 650W 80 Plus Gold
SSD/HDD: Samsung 840 Series Pro 128GB and WD (Black) 1TB
Optical Drive: Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer
OS: Windows 8.1
