I am new to Toms hardware. I have always found Toms hardware very helpful, so I decided to make an account Here is my problem; I am using After effects to make movies and when I playback a movie clip the CPU usage is around 60% and when exporting a file, the CPU usage goes up to 90-100%. After effects might be a CPU intensive program, but what seems odd to me, is that my GPU during render and playback never goes above 20% usage. I would like to see my GPU working hard to render and playback files. During playback I am getting 25-30FPS with no effects added to the clip, with effects added, the frame rate drops to 11-17FPS. I have the GPU set to render Ray-tracing and I have updated all drivers/software. So, I am curious why my GPU is barley working and I would like to see the GPU put to use to improve frame rates. Thanks for help.

My specs:
Wndows 7 64 bit
GTX760 4gigs
8 gigs RAM

Hi,

one important point is what your CPU??

Most likely it's holding you down.

Rendering is most likely CPU oriented and you cannot transfer the load to the GPU. You nee to upgrade or overclock the cpu.

It's a fine cpu for gaming,

What's your PSU,
How old is it.

Be sure that the power for the card are well plugged in (it might be loose, I had this problem before )

Id it's all fine, you might want to overclock your cpu a bit.
