I know all the problems that can be caused by just unplugging a portable drive with out unmounting it first. I have USB ports on my Monitor which are real handy. But if I turn off the monitor it shuts off the power to the drives. It doesn't have passive USB support. Thats not an issue for me really because I can turn off my monitor and leave my pc on cause I use it to watch movies on my tv. My Question is if I turn off the monitor like that will that cause any problems with the unmounting process? As if I just pulled the plug on the drive with out properly unmounting the drive? Or will my monitor allow enough time for it to park properly and discconect? I'm using an Acer 23 inch touch screen . Really nice monitor especially with those handy ports. Thanks in advance
