Hi, since Sunday I'm strugling with DV6 unit. FIrst there was BSOD with graphic driver error and later it stopped responding at all. It seems that dedicated GPU (Raden 5XXX series) died. I had restore Windows from recovery partition and thats how it started ... the screen went black after and I cant do enything. I want to run it in safe mode to deactivate dedicated GPU and run it on Intel graphic but I can do it cause i have to finish installation through normal mode. I'm lookind for advice what I can do. Whatsmore I cant run it from disc witch another Win version. I cant switch it off through BIOS as well. Can I unplug discre GPU? Will it run without or BIOS will bind? Any ideas?

Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

Regards
K

the discrete is built into the motherboard. the way I would try is to start into safe mode. go to device manager and disable it not delete it. restart computer. install most recent factory driver package (it doesn't check for hardware it will install drivers into windows database) reboot. go into device manager and delete the disabled card and let windows auto install the driver for it again.

HI Max, thank you for the reply. I tried but I Could not do it as windows installation has to be finished through normal mode. I walked it around by using hiren's bootdisc, I deleted all the files including ATI :)  It is working now, obviously without discrete card but at least I can use it. Thank you guys.
