Added extra ram to my pc and it wont start up

I bought a new 4gb ram stick for my gaming pc to go with my original 2gb there both 240 pin and ddr3 but when I add it my pc wont start and if I just use the 4gb it still wont start ?

Are you sure you put it in correctly? Once when I had thought I put it in correctly, but when i tried starting it it just made a loud beeping noise and had a black screen saying that no memery was found. If that's what your computer is doing, i would check. If not, then sorry i don't know.

What mobo, CPU and the model #s of the DRAM, mixing DRAM with DDR3 can be, and often is problematic, there's never a guarantee sticks from different packages will play together, even of the same exact model....Get the info requested (CPU/mobo, etc and will see if we can make some adjustments so they play.
