I connected my gpu to te 6 pin sata out of my modular psu by mistake what damage would this cause

i made the mistake buying a second hand modular psu and sourcing a 6 pin to 6 pin pci cable from ebay which i dont know if was even wired the same as correct cable for psu either way i broke the pc by connecting a gpu to the six pin black connector on a modular psu which i now believe is meant for molex or sata but im not sure ive been told this and that i should of connected to 8 pin blue connector on psu, ive ordered a new psu and motherboard but will this have effected the gpu,ram or apu system details below

if ram,apu or gpu has been damaged will that in turn damage new motherboard ill be using and is there a way of knowing weather its the ram or apu at fault if i have a fault (the gpu wont be installed on first test)

but the pc wouldnt turn on all that happened was moude light would come on i refiitted old psu which was working ok cit 500w and still nothing except the mouse light thats why i have bought a motherboard as i presume the least damage ive done is blown the board or worse which is why im worried about apu,ram,gpu even hdds i mean why wouldnt of come on unless the motherboard was broke i checked socket ,plug and fuse and changed psu so its not a power issue
