My internet has been disconnecting for seemingly no reason recently. It disconnects for anywhere between 3-20 seconds at a time. I've tried replacing my wireless adapter, changing the router channel, and restoring my computer, but nothing works. I have a Motorola SBG6580 router and a Netgear WG111v3 wireless adapter. There is another computer connected to the network with no problems. Please help!

:hello:

Kindly I ask your attention.

Well,

I'm kind of far away from the router but it's open space all the way from me to the router.

How far in meters?

Did you do a complete driver/software deinstall, restart system, install and restart the system?
Did you try it at...

I bought a Linksys adapter for $40. It had the exact same problem so I find it very unlikely it's the adapter.

:hello:

Kindly I ask your attention.

Well,

Is the connection stable?

Go to the Taskbar/Internet connections/Internet connection (used) Properties and see if it says Weak/Acceptable/Good/Very good and look if the Datastream is stable and not goes from 1MB to whatever.
When you have software installed from you adaptor and it can give you that information, that might be the best way of doing it. It's more accuerd when I'm not mistaken.

OS? and Type x?? (Right click at Start / Computer, there you will find the answers you need.)
Drivers???? (Start / Configurations / Internet/Wireless Connections/Manager / Adaptor settings or simular to it /
right click on the adaptor in use, choose Properties. At one of the tabbes you will find the
information you need.)

How far is the space between your router and your adapter?
Any differences according to the computer that has internet connection like:
- Different floor;
- Wooden or concrete floor;
- Any water or metal in between, because someone placed something inbetween;
- Did your or another person replaced something or the units;
- And so on.

What you could do is download the latest driver at the nother computer, put it to your computer. Deinstall all the drivers needed for the adaptor, restart and reinstall and restart.

Or,

Deinstall from Hardware Manager, and do the same above.

Did you reset the router?

When so, keep the power off for atleast 1 minute.

Did you know that a bad connection could be responsable for Blue Screens?

Start / Configurations / Internet/Wireless Conections/Manager / right click the adaptor and choose Properties.
Did you check under the Properties of the adapter, the power of the unit?
Set it to maximum when needed.
Agressive behaivour by/in sworm, set to normal or one step hogher.

Hopefully I let you known enough, that you will find the answers you seek! ;)

Good luck and have fun doing it! :)

Nope!

When the adaptor wasn't good the first time, it might be the next time too.
What you mean is, that the adaptor could be broken and a second time is nearly impossible.
It could be that this adaptor doesn't do the trick and another type or brand does.

Before changing it anyway, give some tries of my answer, answer us and we will see! :)

Good luck and have fun doing it! :)

I have Windows 7 Home Premium
Driver: Just updated from 6.1116.1228.2007 to 62.1181.1118.2009. Will have to see if that fixed it, but probably not.
Connection: Very Good/Excellent
I've set the power to maximum and disabled the "turning the adapter off to save power" option, and that did not fix it.
I'm kind of far away from the router but it's open space all the way from me to the router. The other computer is in a similar room as mine and both have carpet.

Did you do a complete driver/software deinstall, restart system, install and restart the system?
Did you try it at the place where the nother computer is (move it over)?
Did you use your phone/whatever as a WiFi HotSpot (inbetween de router and your computer)?
Or, when the nother computer is nearby:
Did you use the nother computer as a WiFi HotSpot?
Did you place the nother computer at the place of your computer?

Is it the x32 or the x64 Windows type?
Might be that the one of thoose types have software issues and the nother not.

Try them, start with WiFi HotSpot on Phone/whatever, moving your pc and WiFi HotSpot, and when the nother computer is a laptop/mobile, then that one first.
I asume that your computer isn't mobile like notebook/laptop/aso.

Questions you might to Google:

How to set my brand/type and/or OS like Android/version phone as WiFi HotSpot?

How to set my computer as a WiFi HotSpot?

'set' Could be replaced with 'install' and you could place 'Step by step' in fromt or 'step by step' behind the phrases.

Hopefully I let you known enough, that you will find the answers you seek! :)

Good luck and have fun doing it! :)
