Hi I recently made a build with a 4670k and a z87 mobo because I thought, i'd better to spend a lil bit more to OC so I could get better performance before changin my CPU.

Then I realized if it's worth it? Why OC a new CPU that will run everything? Should I downgrade to a i5 4440? And downgrade the ram from corsair vengeance to any 1600 ram? Same with mobo

Why OC?

It is just something to do(you have the hardware, why not overclock it) and for some to brag about to others. You will also get users who overclock near the end of a systems life to keep the system a bit longer.

Mid level overclocks are generally very safe and not not noticeably shorten a cpu's lifetime.

If your system does what you want it to, no one is forcing you to overclock :). If you feel like just a bit more power would help with certain tasks, give overclocking a shot.

Depending on the way you overclock, you cpu will still retain all of its power savings features and not clock up unless it has to anyway.

I'm only going to overclock when my hardware starts lagging behind the newest stuff, some people overclock immediately because they like it or just want to squeeze every teaspoon of performance out of their hardware.

because an 18-30% increase in performance is cool. us original sandy bridge(2500k/2600k/2700k) owners were spoiled because never before could you add a simple $30 hyper 212 and go from 3.3ghz(2500k) to 4.4ghz by just changing the multiplier without touching anything else(usually). thats an effective 30% increase in core frequency speed and the performance scales right along with it. after 2.75 years my 2500k is still at 4.4-4.6ghz depending on summer/winter conditions. its basically free horsepower, and a massive amount at that, all while staying well within temp and voltage limits.

So It's like a 4670 non k? I see... If you'd have bought a non oc cpu you'd have to upgrade sooner right?
