Is this a good screen for a gamer on a budget

I finally want to move away from my 1600x900 res and want to move to 1920x1080 and found this on a budget price. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009484
Also can my pc handle that res.
FX 6300
R9 280 Radeon Dual x
8 gigs G skill sniper.

Also if i get this should i run DVI or HDMI

It is a good monitor, but I would try to get something bigger. Specially since your running a r9 280

As for HDMI vs dvi, they are both digital, hdmi. I think max res for hdmi is 1080p
