Is it worth buying a 360 to play with friends?

I've been a PC gamer for ~3 years and never even looked back to consoles since I built my PC. However, now I have a group of really really good friends with whom I eat lunch most of the time and I also party with them. They play on XBox 360 almost every day. Right now I can buy a 120GB used Xbox for $80, I would just need the games they play and a way to connect it to my PC speakers. I know I would get a lot of fun hours in multiplayer with them. But I'm not sure it is a good investment. What would you do?

You basically answered your own question:

"I know I would get a lot of fun..."

As for the SPEAKERS, there are actually several ways you can Google but your hardware dictates what is easiest:

1) Do you have a monitor with HDMI input and audio output?

2) Are you speakers analog or digital (input)?

My monitor has HDMI but no audio output. I'd really prefer to not use the built-in speakers. I'm considering to buy a cheap headset at gamestop if I find one, so I think that problem would be solved easily now.
