Problems Building PC

I have been trying to build my first gaming computer. Well, I bought some used parts to start out. When I first started, I had a PC that would turn on (the fans and LEDs) but it would not POST, boot, or go into BIOS. It would also shut down after like 30 seconds and then restart. I fixed the restart issue by a new PSU. After I got the PSU, it still would not POST, boot or go into BIOS. So, I bought a different mobo off of ebay. It was an ASUS rampage 2 extreme. It was also used priced at $225 with no returns. That did not fix it either. Same problem. So then I switched out the GPU. Still nothing. Then the RAM. I tried a friends RAM. Still nothing. I then bought an MSI Z87-G45 mobo and an intel i7- 4770k CPU. It still doesn't work! I brought it to a friends house and we, together, found out that the CPU socket pins were bent. I sent it back and got a new one. It still doesn't work! I can't figure out what is wrong and it has come to last case scenario. BTW, the PSU is a Raidmax RX-1200AE. Any help would be appreciated greatly. I have put over $1200 into this POS and I would really like to get it working without wasting any more money.

Last time I had this much frustration the pc case was shorting the system. Not sure if yours is the same but I'm assuming you've tried posting outside of the case? If not, try it on the mobo box it's safe and clean to do it that way and avoids shorts etc. If it works you have the same problem. Try replacing the case. Their may be something that's not obvious that's causing your case to make contact to your components shorting them.

In another incident, it was 2 bad psu's in a row. I thought it was the mobo. Also, try posting with only 1 stick of ram in the second slot only.

Hope my experience gets you closer if not back up and running. If I can think of anything else I'll update you. Please keep us posted! Good luck!

You are the man! Thank you so much! It was indeed the fact that the power supply. I will definitely have to call Amazon and see if they can issue me a refund or an exchange for the PSU that I spent $250 on. It is out of warranty through Amazon but they will probably still do something. They have pretty good customer service imo. All I did was switched out the new PSU with the old one and wallah! It says that the system CPU or memory changed and it booted into BIOS. Thank you soooo much!

You're welcome! Glad I could help! Yeah, I was really confused before as I wouldn't typically think about the psu with such symptoms without prior experience. Have fun!
