So I just got a XFX Radeon 7870 card that requires 1x6-pin and 1x8-pin. My PC only has 2x6-pins. Would I be able to purchase a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter and it be able to function properly? Slightly new to building/upgrading PC's so please be gentle with me lol. My PSU is a 750watt, if that helps anyone answer my question at all.

UPDATE: If you need more info about my PC to help answer just let me know and I will do the best I can to help you help me. I would post more about my setup but not sure what would be relevant info other than my PSU and graphics card.

Solution
What brand and model is your PSU? It is probably low quality and should be replaced. Any quality 750w unit would have 4 GPU connectors and at least 2 6+2 pin (8pin) connectors.

Also, I'm pretty sure all 7870 only use two 6-pins.

Well it is just the Dell PSU that came with it, model number H750E-01. This PC is bout 5 or 6 years old and just recently started to get out classed by hardware requirements of newer games, hence my newness to upgrading PC's.
Well this one has 1x6 and 1x8 though on the instruction sheets that came with it it shows it as 2x6's which somewhat threw me off. I can try to provide a picture of it if that'll help.
UPDATE: Heres a link to a picture of the ports on my card

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201028 Anything like this would be perfect. Just look for "6 pin to 8 pin adapters". They work great. That's what you need. Also, even if you have an old 750w dell PSU, no 7870 is going to pull enough power for it to make a difference and there's no point in investing in a new PSU. Also, very strange. I would power that thing up and make sure it's actually a 7870, haha. I don't think there is a model with an 8 pin plug. A 7870 won't take advantage of the extra power.

ok so I got in contact with the person I bought the card from and he ran into the same issue. When he came acrossed it he contacted XFX and apparently they ended up making 4 different versions of the 7870. The 2x6-pin models were crashing bcuz they weren't receiving enough power. He ran his with a 2 molex to 8-pin with success. I have decided however to just got the safe route and buy a new PSU as well with the proper connections. Thanks for the help everybody. =)
