Computer randomly cuts out (like socket has been turned off at the wall) and then restarts!

Hi Guys, i recently assembled a new gaming computer. The computer runs great when its on, however i have been experiencing an issue where the computer will randomly cut out. It can happen when idle, when browsing, when gaming, completely random.

I have an intel i5 4670k overclocked to 4.3ghz
an MSI z87-g45 gaming mobo
8gb of team vulcan 1600mhz RAM
EVGA 750w fully modular PSU
Zotac GTX 780

I have ran memtest and disk check, both came up clean. so i know the RAM and hardrive are in working order. I have performed stress tests and the cpu temp never rises above 50 celsius, even when im overclocked to 4.3ghz. In the bios my core vltage is set to 1.265v, but the sensor is reading 1.28v and the ring voltage is set to 1.235v and the sensor reads 1.256v. So could it be potentially caused by the overclock settings??

Also, when i assembled the computer. I made the mistake of connecting the case fans to the mobo fan controllers as well as the PSU 4 pin molex connector. When i did this and turned the computer on, the power instantly cut off. So i removed the fans from the mobo and left them connected solely to the PSU. The computer has run fine since bar the random cut outs. Could i have shorted the mobo or PSU???

When the computer restarts after cut off, a message pops up from the bios stating that the overclock has failed and default values have been loaded. When i go into windows the event viewer says kernel-power event 41.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give as much info as possible. Any response with possible solutions to the problem would be very much appreciated

Thanks,
Scott

What CPU cooler are you using? What case and what case fans do you have?

The PSU has a safety feature that cuts off when things are plugged in incorrectly.

I have no idea about overclocking. I am just asking about the cooling options taken.

The cpu cooler is the Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler, and the case i have is the CIT dominator gaming case which has 5 built in fans. I think they are all 120mm fans

Reinforces my opinion of Motherboard or PSU at fault.

Why does that reinforce your opinion about mobo or psu fault?? the other use said the psu has a safety feature which prevents problems in the event of my poor assembly haha. Surely it is pointing towards the OC settings?

The PSUs trip system may be bad, the motherboard may be cutting out randomly.
As I asked before, does it happen when the overclock is off?

Thats something i am yet to test, will do when i get home from work. The cut outs are random and irregular, it could be a few days before it does it again or a few minutes. So i'll post again when i've turned the OC off and it happens again, if it happens again

**UPDATE** So far so good, ran the computer with default BIOS settings. No random shut downs thus far, will continue my usual computer usage and post again within 48 hours as to whether it has crashed or has run successfully.
