Hi, Up to press I've bought/played/finished Severence: Blade of Darkness, Return to Castle Wolfestein, Far Cry (1), The Witcher, Doom 3 and Call of Duty 2. Based on these kinds of games, what other great games should I be looking for, both old(er) and new?

Edit: Add F.E.A.R. to the list!

To add to the lists above:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is pretty good, Shooter/RPG
Fallout 3/Fallout New Vegas- Open world RPG/shooter

Steam sale should be coming up in the next month or so, you could pick up quite a few of these on sale.
