I just bought an Acer V5-473 PG a few months ago so the charger etc is the original one and its still working perfectly.

The laptop doesnt turn on but the led-lights are blinking. When I plug in the charger, the charger led turns from orange to blue. The other led just keeps blinking in blue every few seconds

I tried poking/clicking the reset buttons but it doesnt turn on and the blue led just keeps blinking..also, i noticed that whenever the blue led blinks, the screen will come on but very very lightly and for the duration of the blink only.

Any methods to fix it other than removing the battery cos I think the battery is built-in....

I was doing my work halfway (with the charger plugged in) but turned my attention away for abt 20 mins but now it just wouldnt turn on....

Pls help :(

Well in case of such total failure it will be mostlikely power or motherboard, but in your state it's hard to tell.
Fact that leds lit up mean that you are getting some power and also that atleast some of motherboard circuits work but still it can be either of it or both or something totally different :(.

1. If you can try to replace charger or atleast cable to charger from wall socket for start (try even different wall socket to remove all chances :) )
2. Removing battery and trying it only on charger would be next step, but as I read about your laptop I'm afraid it's under lid so you would need to remove back cover and unplug battery. Check for any seal on cover and check also your warranty as It may void it in theory (depending on policy), but on other hand they can hardly prove that you opened it if they do not have some seal on it.

Or as you wrote it's new laptop you can just send it RMA. You can verify with them what is their policy about removing HDD/SSD before sending laptop back as it's often nice to keep it home to have access to your files and to prevent any possible problems.

Hey,

I was trying to boot into my Acer v5-473pg (win 8.1 os) this morning but failed. Blank screen with cursor only.

Solution: Press Alt & F10 to get into recovery mode. Then exit. It will boot into the os after restart. :)

All other shortcut keys like F8, Alt + F8 will not work.

Hope someone will find this useful.
