Hi, I have a VTX3D Radeon 7850, and I'm using FurMark to test it, the temperatures are getting up to around 90 degrees, is this a problem?.

I have attached a picture of inside my machine, sorry if it's rotated the wrong way, but you get the idea. Thanks

More about : gfx card hot

Wee on it?? ...

Joking .. Don't do that ;)  .... Is your card OC??? Load temps on that card should be between 60-70 degrees from reviews. So 90 is quite hot. Make sure your card is firmly in your PCIe slot. If the contact isn't good this can cause an increase in heat. Cant really tell from the picture but a build up of dust in the case filters and fans etc can restrict airflow. If your case needs a good clean this may be worth doing.

How old is this build. Components will over time become less efficient due to transistor wear. This increases heat as well.

Other than that, more fans, bigger fans, new case :)

Hope this helps.

Tried wee, it just made things worse :)

When playing a game (Guild wars 2 in this instance) on max settings 1080p, the max load was around 65 degrees. But when running benchmark tests it gets up to 90.

The build is about 1 year old.
I'll take it apart and give it a good clean, there is a bit of dust gathering.

It has about 6 fans, maybe too many?
Also it wasn't over clocked when I ran the benchmarks, but it is now (when playing GW2)

how old is the card?, pull heat-sink/fan off and re-apply fresh thermal paste? 90c is pretty damn hot....

Well, I took it apart, cleaned every last component, there was a fair bit of dust. Also one of the fast was pulling air in the wrong way. My GPU temp is now around 75 under max(benchmark) load. My CPU temp was about 38 - 40 idle before, now its at 28-30. So all in all, quite successful.

^Just remember to keep an eye on the dustbunnies in future.
BTW, if not all the fans are filtered you can get material or, I think, even kits to add filtration, trust me, as a man with 3 VERY furry cats I fully appreciate having my fans fully filtered. ;)

You should be seeing more like 60-65c load temps with 7850....not 90c...., reason why I asked how old it was etc re applying some good/new/fresh thermal paste can do wonders...both GPU/CPU of course
