Good Morning, I just installed windows 7 on my computer and its running 64 bit. I am a music producer and need other programs and sequencers for my production purposes. I have Reason 5.0 and Sonar 5, which are music sequencer programs for creating and recording music and vocals. The problem that I am having is that when I tried to install reason and sonar in the default location (C:p rogram files x86) it would not let me, some type of error. but when I customized the installation to regular program files it installed perfectly. Now, the issue that I am experiencing is that I have a pro audio sound card to install (EMU PCI 0404) and am trying to install the drivers from the installation disc, but it is not letting me, nor giving me the option to install to the regular program files on the C drive, therefore I have no sound. I have tried to right click and run as admin, but this disc does not give me the option. I guess it is trying to install to the x86 and I am unsuccessful every time. Someone please help, it would be greatly appreciated. Archie

Are you installing that software with administrator account?
One of reasons why it would prevent you to install to program files is if you do not have rights to do it.
For same reason it may prevent you to install drivers as it will also require administrator rights.

You can check type of your account in Control panel > User Accounts, if it list Standard account under your account name that may be cause of your problems. In that case if you got access to administrator account either install all software with that account or increase rights of your current account.

I may be wrong, but I think there are no win7 drivers for the EMU PCI 0404. The driver package on the website says win2000, XP or Vista. Nothing about a 64-bit version for Win7!

I'm afraid that noidea_77 is right. It looks like that card is no longer supported and updated. Maybe it's time to get new one which supports newer OS or you will have to search for some unofficial or beta drivers which may be unstable.

To matter of installation of that software try to right click setup file and click Run as administrator. If you got rights it will install if you do not have rights it should ask you to provide credentials for administrator account.

Thank you for your reply, I am the administrator of the account and I cannot right click the software to run as administrator, it doesn't provide me with an option for me to install in the regular C drive.

That is weird. Could you post exact error message? Or that installation is not an issue anymore, when you installed it to alternative location?

when I tried to install Reason and programs like power iso it tried to install it in the program x86 and it gave me an error, but these programs, I was able to go back and choose the directory, so I tried to put it in the regular program files and it installed with no problems in the regular program files.

Looks like we were wrong they got 64 bit win 7 driver on their site.
Try this driver from official Creative site. link to driver
Or just go to creative.com and find it there.
It should be compatible with 64 bit win7
for these devices
E-MU 1616M PCIe Digital Audio System
E-MU 1212M PCIe Digital Audio System
E-MU 0404 PCIe Digital Audio System

To matter of that 6066 eror i have no idea :( . I dont know if it's windows error or error of that installer. Either way it's weird.

It should automatically pick x86 or normal depending on if application is meant for 64 bit or 32 bit. But if you were able to install it I guess you will either have to live with it or try to dig deeper. But if it works i would let it be for now.
Hope driver I posted will work for you.

The sound card did not get installed, the other programs did because I was able to choose a custom install and put it in the regular windows programs folder. What driver did you post for me?

The link pm4 posted leads to the driver for your soundcard. This driver should support win7-64.

Thank you again for the response, I have been to the site and tried to download the drivers and beta drivers, I guess it tried to install in the x86 program files and it wont let anything install in that folder, anything, does anybody know why it would not let me install anything in the x86 folder.

Installer should by default pick right program files folder.
x86 for 32 bit version and normal for 64 bit. Never saw installer which had problem with that. If you got admin rights you should be able to put anything to that folder. Guess some glitch or badly made installer.

Try to install that driver i linked it's from creative.com site
(repeat of link for E-MU 0404 PCIe Digital Audio System driver for Win 7 64bit
