I want to change mu video card in the nearest future(I have gtx 650 atm, non-TI) .

I have noticed that many r9 280 - 290x are very cheap 2nd hand in my country and I was wondering if they are worth buying. Because people 100% used them on max for like 3 or more months. Is it better to get cheap 290x used for mining 4 months or nvidia card at the same price range but slower?

That's a tough call. The mining cards will have been worked hard. Fans may be failing. The nVidia cards are probably safer. Check benchmarks; if performance is acceptable, I wouldn't care if they're a little slower.

id check it out and if it seems ok, id go for it. might need to replace the fan a bit sooner than a new card but it should be ok.

Well the nvidia in the same price range is gtx 760 only 2 GB and this is really a tough choice. Because this is quite a bit slower than the 290x which can be found for like 350 euroes(from what i've gathered in my search) . If the fan is the only problem with the mining cards it's probably better to get the 290x because it provides superior performance.

1 more question which may be game changing. Will i5-3570k bottleneck 290x?
