Upgrade to vista

have a dell latitude D620 w/xp.I have my recovery disks for my hp w/vista.can I use them to upgrade my dell to vista ?

Nope. First off, the recovery disks are just that: recovery for that particular PC. It's not a question of, "we want you to have to pay each time", it's a question of, "these disks have the drivers for HP hardware, not other manufacturers". So don't expect them to work for another company's hardware.

Secondly, recovery disks don't "upgrade" your OS, they reinstall it. So it won't upgrade your XP to Vista, it'll wipe it out completely.

Thirdly... Vista? Really??? If you're going to upgrade from XP, at least go to Windows 7.
