ddr3 laptop memory replacement

nope did not get anything, used that with my laptop model and all I got was a bunch of laptops on sale. Went to newegg and their site showed me memory I could use, and it looks like all 204 pin DDR3 chips I could use, but just out of curiosity could I get a bigger chip say a 4 gb chip and would I have to do anything for the system to accept it? or could I just stick it in and go?
