PC Frequently Locking Up and BSODing

I built this PC 2.5 years ago and I am now having some strange issues.

Firstly about 3 days ago the PC seemed to have forgotten what all the USBs were and my keyboards volume control did not work, joysticks un mapped etc etc.

Now over the last 2 days the PC cannot go more than an hour without BSODing - we're talking 30 - 60mins of staying alive. This was just enough time to run a virus scan with Malware bytes and there is no malware.

The symptoms are various programmes locking up and crashing - usually chrome then MS word etc, ctrl + alt + del does nothing and eventually it BSODs.

The BSOD error is KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR - 0x0000007A and I have tried MS's hotfix which did not seem relevant to my symptoms but either way it did not fix it.

One more thing to note is that a couple start-ups, maybe 1 in 10 since this started, my desktop background goes black and there is the "this copy of windows is not genuine" note in the corner. The copy is very much genuine!! so not sure what that means?

Any advice would be appreciated - im away from the PC for now but looking to run memtest when I get home.

Many Thanks

Build as follows if it is helpful....

i5 2500k - stock ghz
8gb Ram
560ti 448 GPU
M4 SSD (for the OS)
1 TB HDD
good quality PSU (corsair)

EDIT FOR ANYONE WHO MAY SUFFER SOMETHING SIMILAR IN THE FUTURE -

I appear to have solved this by updating the SSD firmware, PC been running smoothly for 4 hours now.

Will update again if this is a long term solution
