Hello all,

Just a quick question, I am looking to put a GTX 770 into my new rig and was pricing them up when I found this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/631125-msi-gtx-770-gaming-le-2gb-gddr5-dual-dvi-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-n770-tf-2gd5?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products&gclid=CK_MrbCpi74CFZQZtAod11oAdg

It is labelled as an MSI GTX770 Gaming LE edition and is a full £20+ cheaper. The only difference I can see is a slightly lower base clock.

My question is:
What is the LE edition and is it safe to buy or is it flawed?
Will it perform as well in games as the full edition?
Can it simply be OCd back up to normal?

Thanks!

1. If they sell you a bad graphics card, failing more often than others, i think you should be able to send it back and ask for a proper one. I would say safe to buy.
2. Yes - Almost. Slightly lower boost clocks of course lowers the performance by a little bit. By oc'ing you will get almost full performance if not more. It is not guaranteed though.
3. As i said in 2 - Yes you could, but it is not guaranteed. On my gpu i was only able to get 30mhz before it said weird noises, and i decided to stop.

Hi there,

I'm facing the exact same dilemma. With a bit of research I found that other 'Lite' edition MSI cards are exactly the same as their gaming counter parts- they are merely clocked lower. Although I can't confirm if that is the case for this exact card (GTX 770). If it is indeed the case that it is merely a underclocked gaming edition then it will have the full functionality of the more expensive card- you'll just need to overclock it.

I haven't purchased from ebuyer before but it seems legit. If you do purchase let me know how it goes!

I will do!

From what I can tell they are just slightly lower clocked versions... should be easy enough to boost them back up on MSI afterburner :)
