help me fix my internet

i got 8mbp/s internet connection and its running fine except when my sister open her computer and connect to the internet (when am gaming for example tribes ascend i use to get around 40 ping and as soon as she connect to internet my ping get unstable (vary from 150-500)
i can run 2 xbox ,multiple computer l,multiple mobile phone and doesnt even feel lag at all
everything in my place using wifi exceptr her (she is wired to the router)
on her side she doesnt seem to experience any lag at all

any help would be greatly apreciated

The first thing I would do is monitor the network usage on your sisters computer when its running. You can do this by going to Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt_Del) and clicking on the Network tab on a windows PC or using Activity Monitor on a Mac. Its possible that there could be a rouge process running int he background that is using up all your bandwidth. I've seen this happen with computers on my own network.
Another possibility could be if your router supports Quality of Service (Qos). Qos will prioritize different devices on your network. It can give the majority of your available bandwidth to one device while giving much smaller portions of that bandwidth to others. When your sisters computer connects to the router, it could be...

If you game you should do QoS on your router for your device.

If your sister is using Skype, or other video/voip connection it can suck up bandwidth, he pc could also be infected with a botnet or some other type of maleware that is performing constant communication.

i went to look for rogue or any program that would suck up bandwith in background and i did not find anithing suspicious .
and yes my sister do skype teamspeak alot .

so i went into my router and i did enable bandwith control :egress bandwith (512 kbps) and ingress (2048 kbps) and i think that may have solve the problem , 2 days now with no lag , so far so good i think
