Phillip Corcoran :
"Unallocated" means there is no partition in that space so all you can do with EPM is create one, nothing else.
I would be suspicious that the hard drive is starting to fail when previously partitioned space mysteriously becomes unallocated.
It would be wise to back up any important data that's on that drive, then test the drive with drive manufacturer's diagnostic software: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287
Thank you for the response.
The space that is now unallocated contains about 300 GB data -- my main problem is how to get that back.
The question is : how to reallocate and not lose data ?? The partition that is reported unallocated is a logical drive on the main HDD, containing the OS.
I suppose that simply allocating will not allow me to get back to data residing on that HDD partition.
Please, help me, if possible : how to reallocate and not lose data ??
I think a safe way would be to solve it inside of the current installed file system -- I am afraid of altering it with booting from another drive and scribing over.
