I'm shopping for a new laptop and saw that some had 801.22ac connectivity.

1.Is it worth picking up a laptop that has 802.11ac connectivity if my home router is 801.22n? In other words, will I see performance increase by having an 802.11ac laptop on a 801.22n router network or will the router just bottle neck the laptop to 801.22n speeds.

2. If not, is 802.11ac technology complete and advanced enough to upgrade my router to 802.11ac right now or should I wait longer?

Thanks in advance for the clarification and feedback!

Solution
If your existing wireless router doesn't have 801.22ac technology, you'll gain nothing by buying a laptop which does have it.

However, you also need to consider the possibility that you may decide to upgrade your router to a 801.22ac one at some future date, in which case it would still make good sense to buy an 801.22ac-compliant laptop now even though you won't benefit from it straight away.
