Hello, this is a new build i thought up. Mainly wanted to buy it during sales at Black Friday or Christmas. That way, i could hopefully save 200+ dollars.
Don't know if I should instead of the 290, get a gtx770 or sapphire r9 280x toxic and get a cheap ssd.

what do you think? Click Here

ps already have 1tb hard drive, monitor, mouse etc...

1. Yes and no. People who can't afford a 700 series gpu can just get the 600s. But, keep in mind, the 600 gpus are not as good as processing info as the 700 series is so they're not as good as for gaming.

2. Yes. Vendors like newegg and tigerdirect put big sales on the cards after the 700 series was in stock.

3. Yes because it will be able to process the higher level graphics in newer games. But, I would get the r9 390X as it will last very long. But it is all personal preference.

First of all, go wit haswell. They are much more power efficient and deliver more performance. They are worth the extra dollars. Also, great gpu choice.

Well by the time black friday rolls around those parts will be a lot cheaper and there will be tons of new parts on the market--the Haswell refresh will be out, hopefully the 800 series from Nvidia will be out, maybe a 390X from AMD--who knows.

That's a great build and I'd stick with the 290 as an SSD makes no difference other than load times in games--GPU is what determines how well and fast a game runs and the 290 is much better than a 770 or 280X so I'd stick with it.

I just started making builds so I'm not familiar with the trasitions between models. So I have a few questions:

1. With reference to the transition between gtx 6xx to 7xx series, did the new released cards render the older cards obsolete?
2. Was there a price drop with thr 6xx after the release of the 7xx series?
3. Do you think it would be worth it to buy the r9 290 if theoretically the r9 3xx was released since, again theoretical, the r9 290 would have a price drop.

Thanks, I guess i'll wait and find out. If the price isn't so steep, i might just get the newer version like you said. :)
