i've just put together a new comp but i don't have a cd rom compatible with the mother board- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130679. would it possible to just copy the dvd from my laptop that has a dvd drive onto my external hardrive then run the cd from the hardrive onto my new comp?

Solution
Copy that whole thing to a USB.
Run whatever files you need.

Or
Go to the manufacturers website.
Download what you need
Run that

here are two screenshots of what im looking at: the dvd itself - http://b2.raptrcdn.com/img/screenshots/orig/1d6c6382440d0a825c958e8b1aba43c7.5c0eb091f3d19cd484d9cd6ea2212f4d.jpeg

then the files within the dvd - http://b6.raptrcdn.com/img/screenshots/orig/1d6c6382440d0a825c958e8b1aba43c7.30bf4b0b3ecb8df7fcdeabbb1ef788d7.jpeg

so right now im guessing i have to just add all those files and start the DVD setup file and it will start. but i'm not sure so i don't want to touch anything without clearance.
