MSI Z87-G45 PCIe lines..

Simple question here, I am using the top PCIe and the bottom PCIe slot for my two graphic cards and I wanted to know if my system was working at 8x + 8X or 8x + 4x + 4x?

Anyone know, or anyone know how I could find out?

If only 2 PCIe devices are used, it's 8 + 8.

The manual for that board says to use the first two PCIe slots for crossfire or SLI, so I'd recommend moving the lower graphics card up to the middle slot if at all possible.

Plus, I believe the reason it recommends doing that is because the bottom one is running at x4 speed. The available setups with that motherboard are X16/x0/x0, x8/x8/x0, x8/x4/x4.

I think you are misreading and this is the whole confusion here. From MSI website, Gen3 (16,0,0), (8,8,0), (8,4,4)

From this, the only way to have 4X is with 3 cards. This is what I want to confirm.

I just call MSI and with two cards, it is 8x + 8x. Sometime nothing is better than getting the info directly.

Hmm, well that's good to know, thanks. Odd that the manual for the board says explicitly to use the top two slots though. Well, live and learn. Maybe I''m thinking of the boards with the electrically powered bottom slot that's limited to x4 speed.
