I have 2 pc's a htpc and an expensive gaming pc (built by myself). I accidentally put the wrong end of a usb3 cable into the back of the mobo (i couldnt see it) but it WASN'T even plugged in. So while im making contact with the usb port the pc shuts off and it wont turn on again. There is no signs of life at all.
These are my parts

Seasonic PSU MKII - Cant remember the wattage.
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 - AM3+ Socket Motherboard.
AMD Phenom II Black Edition CPU
3GB Nvidia 660
Arctic Cooling Freezer Cooler
Blu Ray Liteon drive.
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM

I am so annoyed about this, the cable wasn't even plugged in at all and hadn't been for hours, it shouldn't have electrical charge running through it. I've already tried changing the power cable for the pc too but still wont switch on . Also there is no lights on the psu so i have no way of checking if its getting power or not (the fans don't spin either). I've tried reseating the cables inside but still no luck (the cables inside shouldn't have come undone anyway). Please tell me all parts will survive this!

Solution
I'll suggest resetting your CMOS clock as a start here. You may have blown a poly-fuse which will (should) reset itself after a short amount of time unpowered.
Hopefully no serious damaged has occurred but no way of knowing offhand, reset CMOS, see if that doesn't do the trick here

Thankfully it powered on after about an hour, everything seems fine! Phew, Thanks for your reply.
