Hey, everyone. This is my first PC build, so I'm looking for some advice. I'll link to my actual build plan below so you can check it out, and write some more words up here for information. I already have all the extras (keyboard, monitor, OS, etc.) so I am really looking for advice on core components. I went with AMD to save monies, because I've heard that most people who complain about the FX-6300 are just fanatically loyal to Intel and lack all objectivity (this could be wrong). If AMD really is THAT bad and you have a good Intel solution in my price range, I'm all ears. My plan is overclock the CPU once I can afford something like an H80i for cooling, but right now it isn't a priority. I live reasonably close to Chicago, so I could get to a Microcenter if I had to. It's not ideal, but it's an option if there is a really good deal.

Budget: $800
Use: Primarily gaming, general use on the side
Build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/mrdreshawn/saved/4y5g
Monitor: 1900x1080

Please give me any suggestions you have on parts to switch out, or ways to save money (always good). Thanks!

Whos build are you referring to, also original poster please go to microcenter for some good deals.
My build is 540 plus the motherboard and cpu
so 240 or 280
so 780 or 820.
You may need a 650 watt if overclocking

Can you link me to where you found the price for that Intel combo? I can't seem to find it for $275. Also I have the OS taken care of. Pretty much anything that isn't on the pcpartpicker that I linked is already purchased.

Its on the microcenter website on computer parts in cpu bundles. Put in store location. There is an in store pick up setting with combos if you go into settings on pc part picker. I included tax in the price.
Also i chose a better cpu than the 6300 but am not sure about the motherboard for great overclocking. The other parts In my build are budget and cpu oriented toward the fx. You may need the xfx-650 watt power supply if overclocking.

Hope that helps!

It looks like this is going to be my best bet. You've given me solid advice for everything else, and then I guess I'll just look for the best deal at the microcenter at the time of purchase for the mobo/cpu. Thanks so much!
