I am building a new computer with looks at upgrading it further in the future when it gets weak. At the moment I have Corsair 650D case and RM850 powersupply. I will be using an Asus gtx 780 DCII OC. In the future I will SLI another.

Any suggestions on what I should start looking at as a motherboard? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forums!

I would look at getting a Intel i7 4770/k, if you get the 4770 (not overclocking), get a H87 motherboard and if you intend to overclock get the 4770k and Z87 chipset motherboard.

Best Z87 overclocking board would be a Asus Maximus VI Hero

Best H87 board for the price would be a ASRock H87 PERFORMANCE.

both Support SLI to best potential.

The ASUS HERO is what I used for my latest build , buy it you won't be disappointed.

I have mine in a 750D FULL TOWER.

Your power supply is built with poor capacitors , I wouln't SLI with it.

Can the 4770k be overclocked on air? Not looking at water cooling at this stage (hence asus graphis over evga classified).

That may be true, but it is also the easiest component in the case to change latter if it's performance is not satisfactory! :)

On researching the Hero mobo I see it can only do one x16 slot at a time. If I am looking for a future proof board for SLI, should I be looking for a board that can run 2 16x slots at once?
