Hello TH,

I've been getting frequent BSOD crashes over the last year or so. It only seems to occur when playing certain video games. Guild Wars 2, Torchlight 2, and Hearthstone seem to be the main perpetrators. It doesn't seem to be a typical BSOD, where you see the error screen. It just suddenly cuts to black, the audio plays momentarily before looping, then silence.

I'm assuming it can't be hardware-intensive games that are causing it, as I've played numerous ones that haven't had issue; such as Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Tomb Raider (2013), FF14, BioShock Infinite, etc.

Torchlight 2, for example, couldn't seem to run for more than 30 seconds before black-screening my rig and forcing a manual restart. Guild Wars 2 would occur sporadically. Some times it would die frequently, other full weekends would play without a hitch. It's quite inconsistent, really.

[strike]I've got me latest minidump report here from my latest black-screen death with Hearthstone.[/strike] It seems it didn't even render a report for that crash. My last is from 4/17/2014. Although, I'm not sure what I was doing; though I will assume Guild Wars 2. Also included is my dxdiag report. I'm not sure what else to include to help; so let me know.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you for the software, although I am still ignorant on to fixing this. My NVIDIA drivers are now up to date, however this has been going on so long (through numerous driver updates) that I doubt the latest drivers will fix it.. I have included my WhoCrashed report below, though, for fellow TH members to see. Don't think it'll fit in the original post.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to WhoCrashed (HOME EDITION) v 5.00
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This program checks for drivers which have been crashing your computer. If your computer has displayed a blue screen of death, suddenly rebooted or shut down then this program will help you find the root cause and possibly a solution.

Whenever a computer suddenly reboots without displaying any notice or blue screen of death, the first thing that is often thought about is a hardware failure. In reality, on Windows most crashes are caused by malfunctioning device drivers and kernel modules. In case of a kernel error, many computers do not show a blue screen unless they are configured for this. Instead these systems suddenly reboot without any notice.

This program will analyze your crash dumps with the single click of a button. It will tell you what drivers are likely to be responsible for crashing your computer. It will report a conclusion which offers suggestions on how to proceed in any situation while the analysis report will display internet links which will help you further troubleshoot any detected problems.
