Thinking of getting Dark Souls

Solution
Dark Souls is still completely worth it, AS LONG AS you install DSfix. Dsfix is pretty much required, but contrary to what photon said, it's actually quite easy to install. The game itself is one of my favorites, along with Dark Souls 2 and Far Cry 3.

It's also worth noting that you can play them in either order without missing much since they're set centuries apart, but I think you should start with Dark Souls 1 as it introduces several characters and events that are hinted at in easter eggs and inside jokes in Dark Souls 2.
Skip the first one IMO.

It's quite a hassle to get the DSfix to work and it's not perfect.

I would also recommend waiting a month or more for some DS2 patches as it's got a few issues.

There are actually thinks I like and dislike about both games; if DS1 was a little better (again DSfix) I'd easy recommend both.

That's my opinion.

Well to be honest, I plan on using my shield to play this game. I am very uncoordinated when it comes to controllers and FPS games, but dark souls seems like a game I would be able to control with a controller and being able to play it away from home is a nice bonus!
