Hello,

I have a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition, and I bought a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo. I have 2 questions:
1° Which motherboard should I buy?
2° Should I buy a huge HDD (Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1TB) and later an SSD or should I buy a small SDD and a small HDD? (I play a lot LoL and Guild Wars 2).

I was thinking about the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P for 62€, and a Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1TB for 52€.

I am not sure if that is the best motherboard I can get for arround 50...65€. I know I cant expect a lot, but I only wanted a motherboard that had SATA 3 and could overclock my AMD 965 BE from 3.4Ghz to arround 3.5 Ghz or 3.6Ghz.

I found an SSD for 55€ with 128GB (SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25), but I am not sure if I should buy it. What I had in mind was, buying that SSD and a small HDD (not sure if SATA 2 or SATA 3, I read there isnt much difference :/  ).

At this moment I have the CPU working with a ASUS M5A78L LE 760G, but this board doesnt have SATA3 and for some reason I can only turn on my PC when I press the Power Button and after 2 or 3 seconds the reset button... and I have a old SATA 2 500GB 3,5' HDD.

Max budget: arround 120€

My Setup at the moment:
- AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
- ASUS M5A78L LE 760G
- Radeon 5830 1GB
- 4 GB Ram DDR 1333
- Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo

Thank you in advance! :)

P.S. If there is someone out there with a AMD 965 BE, I would love to ear their opinions and experience with the CPU :D

Just stick with 1TB HDD and later get 840-EVO SSD.

Hello,
Thank you so much for the quick replys!! :)

I will buy the 1TB Blue. And I will try to get an SSD later this month ^^

About the Motherboard.. I received an P.M. saying that the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P (rev. 1.0) is probably the best one for me. Hmm but its 70€
What do you guys think? It has 8+1 VRM hmm.

If not going for Asus then go for MSI. I recommended ASRock because of budget considerations.

UD3P has 8+2 Phase design and it's good for OC, Asus has 6+2 Phase design and it's also good for OC to. I would go for Asus becasue it's the most reliable AMD motherboard.
Don't get ASRock Extreme3 motherboard because it doesn't support FX-83** CPU's due to thermal issues.

Hi, Thank you so much for the input.

I ended up buying a "Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P" and a "Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1TB" (I got a PM of a person saing he had that board with the same CPU I have). The problem is that my PSU only has a 12v 4 Pin for the motherboard(CPU)... now I had to buy a new PSU because the new Gigabyte motherboard needs 12v 8 Pin (a "XFX PRO 450W Core Edition"). My old PSU was/is a Artic cooling 550. Oh well.. lol :/

I will post here the results when I receive my new PSU. Thank you so much for the help :D

Thanks! :D

I installed the new PSU ("XFX PRO 450W Core Edition") to my system and I have to admit.. Wow, I cant hear anything(with the case open)! Compared with the stock cooler from the 965 BE, this new Cooler and new PSU are really really good for the price!
And I was not expecting the new PSU to work because of my graphic card (Radeon HD 5830 1GB, it says on the HD 5830 website that the GPU needs a PSU with 500W), but it works great! I still need to try to overclock the CPU, from 3.4 to arround... 3.6 or max 3.7. And then maybe the GPU too.

I will post the results, just in case someone in the future wants to know if this PSU can handle that kind of stuff :)

P.S. This new motherboard is much better compared to my old one! It has a BIOS with a cool GUI, and it so much easier to OC! :)

EDIT 12.05.2014 :
I tested the new system with overclocks.. and it works fine! :)
OCed the CPU, RAM and GPU. I am very happy with the new PSU / Cooler ^^

Thank you for all your help guys! :D
