HDMI connectivity problem with 24 inch monitor

Hi, people, I recently bought AOC 2434pw monitor with has both VGA and HDMI connecntion. I have Nvidia GTX 650 Ti graphic card. Though VGA working just ok and I have 1920x1080 resolution, I cannot make HDMI to work. I connected HDMI cable, but when trying to change from D-Sub to HDMI input mode the monitor goes black. If I shutting off the PC and then switching it on with only HDMI connected the monitor doesn't start-the orange power on button is lighted. So, how do i work around this problem?

Have you tried DVI-I on the card via a DVI-VGA adapter to the cable to the VGA on the monitor?

The spec - http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-650ti/specifications says mini hdmi

I do not have DVI-I cable there, only old blue VGA and HDMI. I have no idea what's a mini HDMI, I have a standart HDMI cable with a monitor which entered a port at the back of the PC

I would update the firmware output driver of the monitor whilst using the VGA cable, then re-connect the HDMI after.

And when you have a black screen, does it say looking for HDMI 1 or VGA connection, use the monitor buttons to select HDMI manually.

Oddly enough at their support page my model isn't listed. No, it doesn't looking for HDMI, it simply gives me the option to stay with HDMI input mode and black screen or to go back to d-sub imput mode which the only one working

sorry I had to change it, as I saw that too, the Video i put up is a firmware update for a samsung monitor, hopefully it helps for you (you may have to go to end of video to see)

Thank you. Yes, but as far as I understood it is only for multiple monitors, but I actually want to connect my sole monitor to PC using HDMI cable

Yes, but it still somehow doesn't solve the problem. Besides it refers only to Samsung not to my model

yes, but that was the only video that could try to quickly explain, so now it'll come down to technical things, which may take a while.

it can be due to your graphics card driver, if you haven't updated it, best to do that first.

does any device work through HDMI? Just to check it's not a faulty port, maybe try a console or dvd player?

Well, it's ok, I have figured it out. What i did wrong was that I attached the HDMI cable to the HDMI port of the motherboard, instead of that of the graphic card. Now everything is working fine. Thanks for the help

oh, that is a actually a common mistake, I thought you may have already of tried that. I should probably say that more often. Thank you for that advice.

Thanks, I simply did not find the graphic card port as since I bought the PC a couple of years ago it was covered with a plastic cap and I did not notice it.

plastic cap? I have never known of suppliers covering up their video ports.

Yup, I bought from a private vendor. It was a small plastic cap which can be easily pulled out. Probably it is against dust or something
