The sound going through my computer doesn't work unless I consistently pull on the cord for the headphones?

I know this is a problem related towards my computer because I've used 2 different headphones and they both work on everything but my computer. This started happening when I restarted my computer to see if it would fix my internet adapter (which at the time didn't work). During the restart it took abnormally longer for my computer to load up again. Then when I logged in It said there was an unreported problem, being the goof that I am with computers I ignored it, now it's not reporting the problem. I don't know if there's any correlation between that and my sound not working but I feel it's important to list it. Strangely, no sound card is being found in the sound section of Dxdiag but it's shown to be working fine in Device manager. I don't see how my Computer specs are relevant outside of sound drive, which I can't seem to find. If there's something you're unsure of please ask below and i'll try my best to help. Please keep in mind i'm not the best with computers, so if I don't understand what you're saying try to be patient. I would also appreciate if you didn't link me to other threads as I tend to just get confused by them.

Why is this only happening now? and by headphone socket wiring do you mean the jack that you plug headphones into? And I can't wiggle it, I have to pull it up consistently for the headphones to receive sound.
