Hey guys,

I really need help here, I am at the end of my wits! I am trying to get the creative drivers installed on my machine but each time I try to install I get a BSOD and need to system restore to get system up and running again. I have two cards and both are causing BSOD. Cards and drivers below:

CARD: Titanium Fatal1ty Pro

DRIVER: http://support.creative.com/Products...1ty+Pro+Series

CARD: Xfi Xtreme Music

DRIVER: support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&subCatID=208&prodID=14 066&prodName=X-Fi%20XtremeMusic&subCatName=X-Fi%20Series&CatName=Sound+Blaster&VARSET=prodfaq:p RODFAQ_14066,VARSET=CategoryID:1

Build:

GTX 660 ti
Corsair Dominator 6GB
i7 920
Gigabyte EX-58 UD3R (rev 1.0)
Thermaltake Toughpower 750w

I have also tried on another machine but with same card/s but the issue is also there. I have tried:

reinstalling windows 7 several times
several different PCI and PCI-E slots
PAX Drivers
Daniel K Drivers
Official and beta drivers

I am really lost here and it is driving me crazy, I have spent almost 2 weeks of tinkering and still nothing, the best I can get is the card working by letting windows install it's own drivers but the sound is not great and I have no control over the EQ etc. Also in BF3 the sound distorts after playing for a while :(

Thanks in advance

Solution
This might b a long shot but...

The GTX660TI is a nVidia card, right?

Check in device manager under Sound for Nvidia High Def. audio devices. These are used for the HDMI audio out, I believe. If you are not using HMDI audio out disable them and see how you go!!!

Hey Phillip,

No,just the one card at any one time. I brought out the old Xtreme Music when I thought there may be an issue with the Titanium hardware. As I get BSOD's on both it must be a software conflict. I am thinking some conflict with the 660ti Drivers as that is the only common denominator on both rigs I tried... No idea how to solve this though.

Thanks for the update Wally :)

I did not have the Drivers installed for the Nvidia HD Audio HDMI so I don't think that would have been the issue. However, I just binned the card and got a cheaper ASUS Xonar. The sound is better and I don't have any issues. Screw creative and their crappy drivers :)
