Hi all going to buy a 42" TV but according've read though the TV is 120/240hz can not display more than 60hz (60fps)? true or false?

then I must buy any (best / budget) TV because everyone gives 60fps?
or buy a lg sony say 120/240hz help me with something?
or know some TVs that are proven to show more than 60fps?

It depends on the actual TV. Do you have the model number of the TV itself?

Here's a good link that explains a TV's refresh rate.

True. Most tvs only accept 60hz.

Quote: "to make it 120hz the tv (most tvs) injects a frame in there after every frame that the input signals....this is not "true" 120hz".

I'm not a fan of using TV's for monitors like on a desk or close by. The pixels on a TV and monitor are different. TVs are designed to be viewed from far away so their pixels are larger.

A 24" monitor and 22" monitor have pixels of different sizes, this argument makes no sense. A decent tv and decent monitor will be extremely similar, though TVs usually have lower response rates.

I use both a monitor and tv for gaming. Depends on if I am playing fps with my m/kb or rpgs with my controller sitting on the couch.

TV’s normally are not as fast compared to good gaming monitors. Monitors tend to outperform TV’s when it comes to input lag, refresh rates, and GTG response time. That is why they cost more for a smaller screen. I would recommend getting a monitor over a TV every time, especially if you are mainly playing FPS type games. If your computer can push out 100+ FPS the 120hz+ monitors will take it to a completely new level.
