I wish to mute 'line in' (I have a sound source - cable music channel connected to line in) then play a video (wmplayer 12) and have the video sound emerge from line out...while muting line in. I thought I had it using nircmd mutesysvolume 1, however then wmplayer kicks off muted...everything gets muted, I'm looking only to mute the line in... Any guidance most appreciated.

You should be able to mute this in the built in windows sound utility or the sound cards utility (like realtek)

I need to do it on the fly. The last computer we had, xp/creative sound card, allow us to use muteon muteoff.exe utilities. Problem is a scheduler is set up to kick off a video (board meeting prerecorded) via a batch file. The bat mutes the line in stream to allow the video stream to pass out by itself, once run, unmute (back to the music)... So we essentially need a command line option. How to achieve this process in a way that does not require human intervention.
