So I have a hard drive from an old laptop that I have installed Windows 8 (x64) onto however it will not work in the desktop that I'm trying to install it in. I have found out by the Belarc advisor that the desktop, which is currently running Windows 8 Enterprise Trial (x32), is able to run x64 but when I plug in the drive it does not work.

I have a Windows 8 laptop that successfully runs the drive. I was wondering if the drivers were incompatible with the desktop? Is it possible to install the drivers for the processor and bios onto the hard drive without messing the hardware and bios in the laptop?

Here are the specs for the desktop.

Asus Desktop (Not sure what the model number is)
Motherboard: Asus P5GC-MX/1333
Processor: Intel Pentium E2180
RAM: 4GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GT610 2GB

(Yes it's old but I got it for FREE!)

Like I said the desktop is currently running the Windows 8 Enterprise Trial (x86) so it has the capability to run Windows 8. So is Belarc wrong in stating that the desktop can run x64?

Edit: The desktop is not able to boot from the Windows 8 x64 disc.

Solution
You should have no problem running 64 bit HOWEVER, you would probably have to reinstall windows, and load the new drivers, if you get it to boot off the laptop drive you will have to re-activate Windows.
Do you plan on moving the hard drive back and forth or leave it in the desktop, also what happens when you try and boot from CD?
