Ok trying to help a buddy address a problem with his pc.

He tried playing Dark Souls 2 and the messages were invisible.

So I got on Soluto and tried to help him.

And I noticed he doesn't have "Gaming" in his Catalyst. SO I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. But I think his intel onboard 4000 may be overriding it. Here is why I think this:

1. Catalyst options for Gaming seem to be there when I first install the driver but as soon as restart, it disappears.

2. Under display drivers in Device Manager BOTH Radeon and Intell 4000 show up.

3. When i right click on his desktop, under Castalyst there is something called "Graphic's Properties" on the list. When I click on it the Intel 4000 options come up.

Any suggestions at all would be appreciated. This is driving me crazy all morning and I'm trying to help him remotely via Soluto.

Is the monitor plugged into the graphics card or the motherboard? If you have a dedicated graphics card you can uninstall the intel graphics driver or use virtu mvp and have that manage which output to use.

Make sure the monitor is plugged into the video card and not the motherboard.
Make sure in the BIOS that the Video is set to the 7970.
Uninstall all video drivers using http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_unin...
Download newest drivers via amd's driver page

Forgot the mention, if he doesn't use the transcoding features of intel's quicksync, virtu mvp is not worth it. Just uninstall the graphics driver for intel's and install AMDs.

Thanks guys. I feel like a total idiot for not asking him this and spending 2 hours trouble shooting it via Soluto. This was totally the problem. I originally didn't think it was because I set the PC up myself a few months ago but apparently he unhooked it to play 360 on the HDMI port and recently rehooked it back up (into the wrong HDMI port).

Anyway, problem solved. Whoo. he can now play Dark Souls 2.
