EDIT: defintly going for MODERATE OCing something around 2hz. it seems going past that basically requires water cooling which is for me a bit to advanced for me right now.
Before i get started :
Cpu: I5-4670k
mobo: maximus hero
Case: Rosewill blackhawk gaming case

Hello all, building my PC monday (first timer!) when my case arrives! one of the things i overlooked was my blackhawk gaming case has a issue with some of the taller Cpu coolers like HYPER 212 EVO :( it really isn't to big of a issue actually all it requires is the removal of the left side stock fan but for me i would like to keep things on the case as is. So for moderate to high Ocing what are some decent low height coolers out there for around the same price as a hyper 212? (little more or little less). I not going to OC as soon as my pc is hooked up but i would like to have a cooler in the first place so when i do get the knowledge of how to properly OC, a decent cooler will already be there. Thanks

The Hyper 212 is not really made for OC work. I would say H100 or H100i, but they are a little pricy. I would look for a refurbished one on the Google, then mount it on the top of your case. As long as its says manufacturer refurbished it will be in perfect shape and well tested for leaks. I had a similar scenario as you do now, and went with the oute of a semi-custom water cooling loop mounted on the outside top of my case. I went with a triple 120mm radiator, but no closed loops come with one.

yea after hearing that hyper 212 is not really a OC cooler im pretty confuesed to be honest. This is what i mean though, i have very little knowledge when it comes to OCing all i know is that for high ocing pretty substantional cooling is needed IE water cooling. I thought for maybe just for moderate OCing a decent fan based cooler system would be enough, something like ~2hz (just from a quick google search) MODERATE OC is something i would like to try but if HIGH OC something like 3+hz requires stuff like water cooling i may just hold off on that and stick with nice fan based cooler for moderate OC. Problem is i just dont know which one do to that case issue (or my issue of being anal about removing a fan ;) ) im still gonna leave this open for more suggestions

EDIT: i'll change the thread title aswell

A lot of the Noctua cooler can do it, they are quite good.
