Hello,
I have upgraded my system last week. My system configurations are below:
CPU: AMD FX BULDOZER 8150
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE 990XA-UD3
RAM: 8GB (2X4GB)
HDD: 1TB WD
GPU: GAINWARD GFORCE GTX 660
PSU: CORSAIR VS650 (650 WATT)

I am having an issue using Autodesk 3ds max 2013. when I render any scene, the system gets automatically off.
I have used branded cooler master cooling paste on processor but still the system gets off automatically.
I have found the temperature using speedfan application, temps are:
GPU : 61 C
CPU : 88 C(low)-97 C(high)-at the time of rendering
HDD : 51 C
Please share your opinions, if you know the reason?

holy crap that is hot for the cpu!!!

amd chips aren't like intel. Max core temp is 62C and socket 72C

either you've used way too much/little thermal paste, or your cooler isn't mounted properly, or it's faulty, or you've overclocked with way too much voltage

what kind of cooler do you have?

Thx Snipergod87,

yes, the processor is heating, but the cpu fan is spinning properly and the cpu fan is properly attached either.
i think my cpu is faulty, and i am going to submit the cpu for replacement as it is in warranty.
let's see what they will say?

Thx blockhead78,
i have used an average amount of thermal paste of cooler master, after that i had mounted the cooler properly. But still, no improvements...system turns off suddenly after 5-10 mins ( but only at the time of rendering otherwise it is running fine with listening music, watching movies)
I have never overclocked my processor and graphic card.
well, i am using 2 standard fans as cooler.

what do you say, will it be enough for cooling?

yes, you are absolutely right...they don't help.
i have purchased a cooler master thermal paste and used half of it on processor.(half paste in the tube is left)

About the cooler:- yes i am using the cooler that came with the processor.
well, i am waiting for the processor to reach at my permises after replacement.

after replacement of processor including the inbuilt cooler, do you think that this problem will fix this problem(automatic turn off)???

you used half the tube????

that's way WAYYYY too much

all you need is a pea sized amount placed on the centre of the cpu and then let the weight of the heatsink spread it out

the stock coolers aren't very good and if you're going to do a lot of rendering I'd suggest getting a better one

Well Thx blockhead78 once again,

i think this is what i had done wrong in the whole setup. this time, I will remove all the thermal paste and then again use a little amount.
and yup, i will do a lot of rendering on this system, can you please tell the the better cooler for rendering purpose?

here's some suggestions:

decent budget coolers
Xigmatek Gaia
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition

Higher end budget
Corsair H80i
Noctua DH-14
Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3

I've owned the Xigmatek, Arctic Cooling freezer and the H80i and they were all excellent coolers

hi all,

Thx for helping me out...
I have received replacement of my CPU which is now AMD FX 8350.
as it is a brand new processor, so i have not used thermal paste, and rendered the scene again.
But still the same issue is occuring. while rendering it gets shut off without any warnings.

Please help me out...
