buying a new graphics card

Solution
Ok. Let me put this is more simple terms.

At 1080p, and likely 1440p, the GTX 770 is faster than a 280x in a majority of games.

When you start pushing three monitors or 4K res, is when the extra VRAM will push the performance past that of the 770.

AMD has more driver issues and crossfire issues than Nvidia.

Nvidia is the opposite, has pretty damn good driver and less SLI issues.

Buy whichever you want, both will give roughly the same performance.

I heard that 2 or 3 graphics card have better performance than one and 2 770's perform better than one 780.

Why are you even asking this if the other option is 3 660 Tis? Microstuttering is an AMD concern, and for the most part, not Nvidia's.

SLI becomes less worth it once you add a third GPU, and the gains from the third GPU is very minimal.

So two 770s would be the best choice, they do out perform a single 780.

then what do you say if i add 2 r9 280x instead of 2 770's, would that be better and how are you saying that nvidia's gpu don't have micro stuttering?

Do whatever you want. AMD suffers from more driver issues and crossfire issues than Nvidia does currently. AMD has gotten better, obviously, but the choice is yours. Two 770s would probably be better than two 280xs, but the two 280xs would likely be better running a a triple monitor setup.

why? the two 280x's are 384-bit and have 3gb of Vram and a minor difference in clock speed, while 2 770's are 256-bit and have 2gb Vram. won't the 280x's b better
